Our 2025 Honorees

In recognition of a life dedicated to blazing trails and broadening paths.

In recognition of a professional, team or organization demonstrating excellence in serving and empowering the Latino community.

In recognition of an outstanding alumni of the Talented And Gifted Latino Program, who is advancing equity for the Latino community

A Brief History

In 2014, the TAG Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, took over the production of El Jolgorio Navideño. The event was a cherished tradition founded by the 1989 Executive Board Members of the National Congress for Puerto Rican Rights of MA as an intimate, community-led Puerto Rican holiday celebration “to preserve our culture and traditions,” as stated by one of its founders, Jaime Rodriguez. Since then, El Jolgorio has grown into a premier event that has become an institution within the Boston community, uniting people from diverse sectors and backgrounds for a night that elevates education, art, culture and community building.

El Joigorio Navideño is now the largest Latino holiday gala in New England. The event is a vibrant celebration rooted in Latin American traditions that raises vital funds to support educational and cultural programs uplifting the Latino community. TAGa’s mission is to elevate the Latino community through education, arts, and culture. To that end, the TAG Association develops and supports culturally and linguistically sustaining educational and community development initiatives that have a proven transformative impact. As one of the few Latina-led and Latin-focused organizations in the region, the TAG Association envisions a Greater Boston where the Latino community thrives, is educated, engaged, and remains culturally vibrant. Proceeds from El Jolgoria Navideño directly support the TAG Association, committed to ensuring the continuation of the TAG Latino Program at UMass Boston, a culturally sustaining college pathway program that has been serving Latino and immigrant students since 1985. At a time when opportunity and achievement gaps are widening, the TAG Latino Program is needed more than ever. According to the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, the college-going rate for Latino students has declined since 2013, with Latino males having the lowest college enrollment and attainment rates in the state. Meanwhile, Latinos remain the fastest-growing demographic in Massachusetts. By supporting TAG through the TAG Association and El Jolgorio Navideño, you are helping to cultivate the next generation of socially conscious Latino leaders. Join us in making a meaningful and lasting impact on our community’s future.

A Mission Inspired by Our Vision

The TAG Association envisions a united, educated and empowered Latino community that knows, celebrates and shares its diverse culture and traditions and uses its collective power to strengthen our city, commonwealth and country. El Jolgorio Navideño moves us closer to this vision by providing a space for authentic community building and cultural celebration.
