El Joigorio Navideño is now the largest Latino holiday gala in New England. The event is a vibrant celebration rooted in Latin American traditions that raises vital funds to support educational and cultural programs uplifting the Latino community. Proceeds from El Jolgoria Navideño directly support the TAG Association, committed to ensuring the continuation of the TAG Latino Program at UMass Boston, a culturally sustaining college pathway program that has been serving Latino and immigrant students since 1985. At a time when opportunity and achievement gaps are widening, the TAG Latino Program is needed more than ever. According to the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, the college-going rate for Latino students has declined since 2013, with Latino males having the lowest college enrollment and attainment rates in the state. Meanwhile, Latinos remain the fastest-growing demographic in Massachusetts.
